For the 68th Annu\u00adal Meet\u00ading of the German Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion for Medical Infor\u00admat\u00adics, Biom\u00ade\u00adtry and Epidemi\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy (GMDS e. V.), I warm\u00adly welcome the partic\u00adi\u00adpants from all over the world here in Heil\u00adbronn and on the Bildungscampus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Host\u00ading this confer\u00adence in our city is a great honor for us. Heil\u00adbronn is on its way to becom\u00ading a city of knowl\u00adedge and, with the Innovation Park KI Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg<\/a>, is devel\u00adop\u00ading into a power\u00adhouse that can give the state impor\u00adtant impuls\u00ades. Inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive research at the inter\u00adface of medi\u00adcine and comput\u00ader science, as the topic of this confer\u00adence, makes an impor\u00adtant contri\u00adbu\u00adtion to main\u00adtain\u00ading the perfor\u00admance of our health\u00adcare system at a high level in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The great impor\u00adtance of health research and the digi\u00adti\u00adza\u00adtion of our health\u00adcare system have become the focus of public debate due to the coro\u00adna pandem\u00adic. Expe\u00adri\u00adence has made it clear that these issues concern us all. That is why I am also glad that this confer\u00adence is not planned mere\u00adly as a closed shop<\/em> for the numer\u00adous nation\u00adal and inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal experts. The orga\u00adniz\u00aders from Heil\u00adbronn Univer\u00adsi\u00adty of Applied Sciences under\u00adstand the confer\u00adence motto \u201cScience. Close to people\u201d not only in that science focus\u00ades as inten\u00adsive\u00adly as possi\u00adble on people. Through vari\u00adous formats rang\u00ading from citi\u00adzens\u2019 dialogues to work\u00adshops, a broad public is also to be inspired by digi\u00adtal health research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wish the partic\u00adi\u00adpants of the 68th Annu\u00adal Meet\u00ading of the GMDS excit\u00ading and inter\u00adest\u00ading days in our city with many new impuls\u00ades. I hope that, despite a certain\u00adly tight confer\u00adence program, you will find the time to get to know Heil\u00adbronn a little better. It\u2019s worth it! But I wish the orga\u00adniz\u00aders a smooth and success\u00adful course of the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
