The course provides an overview of the method\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy of compar\u00ada\u00adtive stud\u00adies with a focus on statis\u00adti\u00adcal meth\u00adods, but at the inter\u00adface with other GMDS-relevant fields such as machine learn\u00ading and bioin\u00adfor\u00admat\u00adics. The target audi\u00adence consists of readers\/users of compar\u00ada\u00adtive stud\u00adies as well as method\u00adolog\u00adi\u00adcal junior scien\u00adtists* who wish to design and conduct compar\u00ada\u00adtive stud\u00adies them\u00adselves. In partic\u00adu\u00adlar, the follow\u00ading topics will be covered: 1. Design of a compar\u00ada\u00adtive study (of meth\u00adods), influ\u00adence on results and danger of cherry-picking and non-replicable method\u00adolog\u00adi\u00adcal research results 2. \u201cNeutral compar\u00ada\u00adtive stud\u00adies\u201d as an ideal, diffi\u00adcul\u00adties and partial solu\u00adtions 3. Report\u00ading of compar\u00ada\u00adtive stud\u00adies 4. Simu\u00adla\u00adtion stud\u00adies in method\u00adolog\u00adi\u00adcal research: design, prac\u00adti\u00adcal rele\u00advance, neutral\u00adi\u00adty, report\u00ading 5. Data-driven simu\u00adla\u00adtion stud\u00adies in appli\u00adca\u00adtions as deci\u00adsion support for choice of meth\u00adods Planned are course units in \u201clecture style\u201d as well as short hands-on sessions in R on the above topics.
