Miet\u00adti\u00adnen (1936\u22122021). It will address a crucial peri\u00adod in the devel\u00adop\u00adment of epidemi\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy, from clas\u00adsic to modern epidemi\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy and from descrip\u00adtion to analy\u00adsis. Kay Fami\u00adly Profes\u00adsor of Public Health and Clin\u00adi\u00adcal  Epidemi\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston,  Mass\u00ada\u00adchu\u00adsetts (USA). Dr. Hofman was the chair\u00adman of the depart\u00adment of  Epidemi\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy of the Eras\u00admus Medical Center\/Erasmus Univer\u00adsi\u00adty Rotter\u00addam,  The Nether\u00adlands, from 1988 until 2016.
